The Ciphered Indian Script and me

My friend cannot digest anything that is undone or unsaid. Or mysteries are what can wake her patience. She cannot stand unclear statements. She has to find out what’s going on. It’s like when everyone says that there is no solution to a maths problem, she wants to prove them wrong. Basically, her wind blows opposite to everyone else’s. This is the most amazing thing about her.

So a while ago, when I told her that the Indian script has still not been deciphered and people still cannot justify the Indus valley civilization as clearly as the other civilizations, she said, “Wow.” Now that was really funny because I expected her to blow off and start googling, or atleast freak out a little but she was in the middle of maths. And nothing like that came out of her.  Plus, I was the spoiler myself. I started by saying, “Let me tell you something that is going to kill you from the insides.”  That was exactly like, “Let me tell you a funny joke that will roll you on the floor laughing” and actually say a boring joke.

But yes, the Indian script still remains a mystery! It makes me wonder what those seals really meant.  And whatever we know about the civilization today, are majorly explained by the architecture, or the scripts from the Aryans, who invaded the civilization only later. Otherwise, they are just some hypotheses. So the real and the earliest start of the Indus valley civilization are vague and not completely known to this world today. Now it kills me from the insides to know that we cannot know what they really were!

Studies from the excavations tell us that there were many remnants of the script on pottery vessels, seals and clay tablets but no archaeologists neither any linguist have been able to decipher it. Some said that there might have been a different script for each household and was no universal script as such. But these are just guesses.

Some studies suggest that they were the first humans on earth. Their town planning, lifestyle and organization were far more civilized than what we can expect from the first humans settling on earth. Their most famous structure included the underground drainage system which was not just planned systematically but also has been based on accurate calculations.

Now what’s really killing me from the insides is their scripts. The scripts from the first humans on earth, and we are not able to understand them yet!

 What if they said that we are not supposed to live? What if they said that the whole universe is just a hologram and whatever we are doing everyday is not real but an image of something that is happening far far away? The scripts are from one of the greatest civilizations on earth and it has to mean something big. May be something important to all of us.
