When the Earth is Violent

If there’s one thing that I don’t want to die of, that’s earthquake. I’ve seen everywhere how destructive an earthquake can be and how deadly it can kill people. I have never experienced earthquakes in my life and I thank god for saving me from this terror. So far. I’ve been a deep sleeper most of the time when it happened and otherwise, I was in the car. So I didn’t even feel the difference. Until this vacation, it happened to be twice.
The first one was right before I went to bed that night and it felt funny because I didn’t believe it at first. My room is in the attic and I thought somebody was throwing a big boulder on our roof. It felt silly because by the time I knew it was really an earthquake, it had stopped.
The second was pretty much bad. That morning, at some minutes past five, my bedroom shook like it was going to fall. I closed my eyes hoping it to be a dream but every time I opened them, it was real. And every time I opened them, I didn’t see anything. I was really scared. I later came to know that that earthquake lasted for about 20 seconds but when it was actually happening, it seemed so long, like it was never going to end.
It hasn’t done much destruction but I still am so petrified assuming precarious situations like the roof having fallen on me and a dodgy leg if that really happened. I can’t imagine how people might have felt in other parts of the world where earthquake has destroyed everything they had; Families, friends and homes.
Now my friends on facebook are sending me this link warning a greater earthquake with more than a magnitude of 8.0 which may hit the Himalayan region. International experts and seismologists have an opinion that if this earthquake delay, the tension accumulated would bring on mega earthquakes. Think about it. MEGA EARTHQUAKES!
I don’t know how far these things are true. We’ve been safe so far and we should be ready with the measures we learn of. We do make fun of our house shaking and some people freaking out but we might not be laughing the same if it happens again. So be careful and safe.
I really hope scientists come up with something before we die a deadly death.

  1. That was indeed a very good piece of information cautioning people to just not stay lay back and and be alert all time.
And yes as mentioned we really hope the experts come up with some measurements against the disaster
Let's hope for the best :)
