Exam Days

I love exams. It’s when I can actually concentrate on things in a way it helps me manage my time, which often is based on procrastination and I am not proud about it. It’s when I want to clean my room thoroughly, do mounts of laundries and have everything organized. Exam times are also when a lot of exciting movies go around, and you steal few hours from your revisions aching to miss the fun if you don’t do so.

It’s when you spend hours narrating your funny stories from school to friends and go all night ending with the silly sob stories. You start to think about so many things you haven’t thought about all this time. I even start making plans for the holidays, which gets exciting the more I talk about it and sometimes it is one thing I get my motivation from: To do my exams well so that I can have a good holiday without having to worry about the results.

Exams can bring a lot of stress on people but it’s also when everything gets fun around. For me, it’s the only or one of the limited times when I am actually able to get things done according to the plans.

It also gives me a time to do the things that I love because in college, there are so many things going around and being a fresher, you usually have your schedules planned by others. So you have to get along with the good-for-all activities no matter what. Although, it’s also helpful to some of us who still have traces of high school and are confused. Certain rules help in guiding us and also not making us go too brash about the freedom.

So in that case, my earlier statement should get corrected to I-love-exam-times. And it is one reason why I am able to write today. I got a ten-day break for my final paper, structural mechanics, and it’s already the fourth day. There aren’t much disturbances because everyone’s studying so, it’s a good time.

    Haha this piece of writing refreshed me like never before. You have nailed it I must say. I will be writing my exams soon and I have started getting the symptoms already haha. Just a perfect timing to remind myself. Thank you much for the great reminder my dear.

Kitiphu, an eye to Bumthang

Kitiphu, at a distance If I were a vulture, I couldn’t possibly have known how high this beautiful mountain touched the sky. Kitiphu is one of the most wonderful ridges I have ever been to. Having Tharpaling monastery, once the seat of Kuenkhen longchen Rabjam, at its feet, this holy mountain stands up to about 7,500 meters above the sea level. I’ve been living in Bumthang ever since I was born but I could make it to Kitiphu only a few weeks ago. Thank god that a reason and a strong determination came up to string some lungdar(prayer flags) on that mountain. The main reason why people go to Kitiphu is to put up prayer flags considering the fact that we gain luck if we do so. I’ve also been told that during the second king’s reign, this mountain used to be a bypass between the then two capitals, Bumthang and Kuenga Rabten(Trongsa). The Thing about Merit

There is no such thing as being self-made. I refuse to believe that human beings and anyone for that matter, have any natural capacity to be self-made. Michael Sandel’s “The Tyranny of Merit — What’s Become of the Common Good, ”- is a hard read but had quite an impact on my deeply rooted opinions on, life, basically. The thought of wanting to solve all these misconceptions plagues me to a point where I don’t even put an effort to think. At the risk of sounding like I’ve figured it all out after one book, I put together 2 things I’d like to believe I learned. 1. The irony about self-made people: The concept of ‘self-made’ or self-sufficiency had the heaviest impact on me. What a life-changing experience it was to learn that the more one considers oneself self-made, the harder it is to instill gratitude and humility.
