Future You

October.
The time when winter started to send its chilly warning and the night sky became clearer. The time when the leaves already left their twigs while the cities glowed with lights and colors of festivals. Everything was so perfect and the poets felt every single moment in thousands of ways.

But in a lonely room towards the far east of a college dorm, few drops of tears fell on the last Harry Potter book. A pair of sad brown eyes slowly rose from the final page, followed by a deep sad sigh almost shivering.

Ugen stepped out in his balcony, his eyes gazing out into the distance and slowly brightening as he saw the lights the city showered in. He looked up at the sky, luxuriously sprinkled with stars and clearer than ever.

He looked down at the city and back at the sky, and again and one more time. It was like they mirrored each other.
He has never seen it as beautiful as today.

He drew a heart in the air with his index finger, and giggled at himself.

He heaved deep sigh and his eyes turned dim again.

October. It was everything that he loved. The sky, lights, colours and the chill. But he wasn't allowed to.

He rushed back inside and checked for his roommate who had left for a senior gathering. He hadn't got back.

He pulled a little brown box from under his bed and froze for a moment.

A long deep silence screamed in his head and told him not be afraid. His head felt like it grew larger and a blinding dizziness creeped in. He shook it off quickly.

From the little brown box, he held up a cute Hello-Kitty pen and started writing.
 "Dear future you,
You've always loved the things you weren't allowed to."
